Be My Gravity - A Prayer

Holy Spirit, keep me

—your Presence,

my gravity.

We cannot without Him. His nearness, is our good.

In joy, abundance, lack, sorrow, grief and everything in between, His Presence is always the answer.

His wine is the only thing that keeps us sober.

His Presence, the only thing that keeps us grounded to reality.

We must stay yielded to His Presence at any cost. It must be our highest priority.

To remain, wherever He is—no matter what state we are in AND especially in seasons when we feel disappointment, shame and fear tugging at us to disconnect and run away.

One of the greatest errors of modern day Christianity is when one has made church about their preferences and not about showing up to His house, simply for Him.

Remaining and positioning ourselves under His  presence, the warmth of His blood—is the only thing that will keep us intact through the years; staying surrendered, staying close at any cost.

His voice is rushing water that washes away the blurriness of disillusionment and erodes the hardened places in us. We cannot hear or see rightly, if we are not choosing to stay close. His voice makes every crooked path straight. All that is out of alignment suddenly made right—by the soundness and tuning of His voice.

We are not victims to inevitable pain; wether or not we stay close through every season, this is always our own choosing.

We cannot love Him without Him.

We cannot hunger without Him.

We must have His Presence to see and discern rightly, to understand soundly, to truly mature, to love.

We must remain, in love.

A lovesick bride.

Remaining, abiding—this is the secret to longevity and sustainability in The Lord.

His presence is His Leadership; we cannot be led if we aren’t drawing close enough to hold His hand. To feel, His rod and staff.

And ultimately, His leadership leads us into Him.

Because He is the end goal, He is the destination, He is the breakthrough.

Nothing else, only, always Him.

He brought me to the banqueting house, and  His banner over me was love.

He brought me.

It is only be allowing Him to lead us, into His house—where we find we have everything we could ever need.

Without staying yielded, near to where He likes to rest—we become like a planet out of orbit, lost in the loftiness and void of space—with no grounding—a cyclical, orbital feeling of being on the outside, misunderstood and alienated with no place to land.

This is a kind of self-sabotaging rooted in an orphaned, victimhood mindset; wanting intimacy without the effort of commitment and the cost of inconvenience and sacrifice.

His presence is never dependent upon our performance.

It’s dependent upon our presence, our willingness to draw near is what makes His heart beat fast.

Come home, stay home—His arms are wide open ready to bring healing.

This is what it means to truly follow. To be a disciple.

In continually laying down our own selfish desire to be our own leader.

This is where, letting go is a kind of heaven.

May He fully be, our gravity.

“But for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Lord God my refuge.” Psalm 73:28
