Adoration is What Keeps Us Soft.
Adoration Is What Keeps Us Soft.
“So, if God can always be felt, what if I can’t feel His presence?”
Slow down, adore Him, and read The Word.
If you feel distant, adore Him.
If you feel hard in the heart, adore Him.
If you feel calloused, adore Him.
If you feel weary, adore Him.
Adoration, is the key to experiencing enjoyment in and the presence of God.
Slow Down.
I’ll notice a lot of times, if I’m finding it hard to feel His presence I’ve usually been going at the speed of light and haven’t taken a second to catch my breath and slow down. I haven’t ate well, haven’t slept well. Ignoring a lot of warning lights from Him, stuck in 6th gear, revving in overdrive. This is usually hand in hand with having a week where I’ve experienced a whirlwind of emotions: pain, shame, anger and allowed myself to hit survival mode.
That was my own doing, I left, not Him.
When I feel this way—I don’t get angry with myself or beat myself up. I just know that it’s time to yield and come back home.
Wether it’s been 2 days, weeks, 2 years or if you are 20 years down the road in not experiencing His presence. The answer is the same: He is near. He loves you. Stop running.
Slowing down, helps set us free from dissociation of the heart. Which blocks us from experiencing His presence.
Then, get in His Word.
His Word is Him.
John 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
It is a double edged sword that cuts the hardened scales off the eyes of our hearts.
“The pure in heart see God” Matthew 5:8
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11
Faith cuts through the self-inflicting separation of unbelief. Faith moves us into His presence. Into seeing, touching, experiencing.
“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by The Word of God” Romans 10:17
This is why, reading The Word is so so so key to experiencing Him. It opens our ears and eyes to encounter Him.
We must strive to enter rest.
Adoration is a choice—chose to lean into adoring Him until your heart melts with love.
Adoration is what keeps us soft.
Honesty is what keeps us close.
Thankfulness is what keeps us seeing clearly.
The Fear of The Lord is what keeps us warm.
If you ever feel calloused in the heart and distant from God, simply, adore Him.
Simply saying, “I love you Lord.” as you’re driving to work.
“I love you, Jesus.” as you’re making breakfast, starting the day.
“You’re beautiful, Lord.” as you walk through hallways in your workplace, as you do literally, anything.
“I honor you Jesus.” as you make dinner.
“Holy Spirit, come. I love you.” as you go to bed.
Keep adoring Him consistently everyday until your heart is melted and you feel Him come up, hugging you from behind, kissing you all over your face.
I promise you, keep adoring Him and He will always come.
He will always respond when you love Him.
Adore Him, until your skin extends outwardly— remembering—His blood is swimming in your veins.
Adoration is like a torch to a block of ice. It melts us to feel His warmth and love.
Adoration tears away everything that tears us in two—it awakens the gospel inside of us.
Inside adoration, shame gets torn in two.
Inside adoration, insecurity gets torn in two.
Inside adoration, confusion gets torn in two.
Inside adoration, trauma gets torn in two.
Inside adoration, guilt gets torn in two.
Inside adoration, bitterness gets torn in two.
Inside adoration, selfishness gets torn in two.
Adoration, sets us free from ourselves and like a broken alabaster jar, pours our being into Him.
The contents of our humanity found held, accepted and restored, inside of Him. An intoxicating fragrance.
Adoration defibrillates our hearts to become alive and warm again.
Adoration is the cure for the hardened heart.
We could never even say I love you first. It’s always, “I love you, too.”
He loved us first. He pursues us first. He choses us first.
We only hunger because of Him. We love because of Him.
Adoration, is the natural response of an awakened heart.
If you are numb, adore Him.
If you feel apathetic, adore Him.
If you are stuck in sin, adore Him.
Get out of yourself and into Him.
Let adoration melt you into Him.
